Darfur

The International Criminal Court has requested a warrant for the arrest of Omar al-Bashir (Sudan's president). It's charging him with genocide and crimes against humanity. In a way, it's a good thing, but in a way, it's a really risky thing because it's causing things to come to a climax. The UN peacekeepers and other aid workers are being forced to pull out of the region, beyond the most bare bones staff because they anticipate a lot of violence. The Sudanese government, of course, says they promise not to retaliate on any aid workers, but they also claim that they aren't guilty of genocide. At this point, it could go either way with positive progress, or mount into an even more catastrophic scale. It will take a few months for the warrant to be approved. (Assuming it gets approved.) In the meantime, who knows if it is a step toward peace or more violence....depends how the Sudanese government reacts. Read more here and you can take action here.
